Listening to God

...the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness...

I wonder how many times we read this verse and have no idea what it means. Well this week @ OWT we are looking at this verse and seeing what it means for us.
These are some questions i think of when i read this verse let me know you thoughts through the comment section: Why would reading the bible make us 'wise for salvation'? What does it mean by 'All Scripture is God-breathed'? How should we use the bible in our everyday lives? And what place should the bible have in our lives? Hhmm... think about it!

Living God's Way

Living the way that God wants us to is difficult, because for many of us, God's direction for our lives is very unclear. This is what Titus 2:11-13 (from the bible) has to say on Living God's way...

11For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ...

Now that all sounds easy, doesn't it? (NOT)

Is it easier to read about self controlled upright and godly lives, then to actually live it?

There are so many pressures in this world that stop us or even make us not want to live our lives according to the description in Titus. Friends, Family, TV and much much more, these things are out there to stop us living God's way.

Think about this:

What are the things in this world that may be stopping you living for God?

How can you say 'No' to these things?

Are self-control, upright and godliness (living God's way) valued by the people around you?

Just something to think about...
